Estoril Portugal XPD Race is an international Adventure Racing (AR) event organized by the Portuguese Adventure Racing Association (APCA) that will count on the support of the Portuguese Orienteering Federation (FPO), of the Sports Association – Desnível and of the Tourism Board of Estoril Coast, among other entities. This event follows a continuous and consistent effort to develop Adventure Racing in Portugal.

The Natural Park of Sintra-Cascais and the region of Estoril Coast will be the stage of this year’s Estoril Portugal XPD Race. The sport competition will serve as a means to disseminate internationally the work carried out in Portugal in this ultra-endurance sport. At the same time it will be a good opportunity to put the potentialities of our country to the test, and namely those of Estoril Coast, as an international destination of adventure tourism, both at the competition and at the leisure level.

This event aims at being the corollary of more than eight years of experience that have taken place within the framework of Portugal’s Adventure Racing Cup (TPCA) – Portugal EcoAventura (PEA) and of the international Raids of the Algarve and of the Terras do Grande Lago in Alqueva.

Estoril Portugal XPD Race will be a multifaceted event during which an International Course for sports technical staff will take place, as well as a Conference to debate the present and the future of AR, and an Adventure Race according to the pattern developed in Portugal for TPCA. To attend these initiatives that will happen during an entire week, we will be expecting about three hundred participants, half of which from abroad.

The competition, which will count on international participation, will take place on the 9th and 10th December, will last for about 24 hours and will be approximately 250 kilometres long. This distance will be covered resorting to more than 10 different sportive techniques (MTB, Canoeing, Ropes activities, Trekking, Trail running, Climbing, Free diving, Orienteering, In-line skating, etc.)

Estoril Portugal XPD Race has then everything to be a very rewarding event under all aspects. APCA and its partners are committed to make this the most unforgettable and successful event ever to be organised in Portugal.
